GAY SOCIALITE JEFF MOYO LAID TO REST

Jeff Moyo, member of flamboyant music trio 3sum was laid to rest on Saturday 14 August following his sudden death on 5 August at his Rustenburg home allegedly due to ulcers.

Described by many as a bubbly socialite and musician, his fellow band member, Amstel Makwane said “he was a wonderful person and I have lost the good side of me, a friend, sister, everything. We were inseparable, on stage we would create magic, and I will never forget that, I will hold his memory for ever.”

Co-owner of Pro Kelly Entertainment that manages 3sum, Prosper Mkwaiwa said “We are deeply saddened and touched by the passing of Jeff. He was a really dedicated and passionate artist. It is not only our stable that is in mourning but the whole music fraternity.”

“We have indeed lost an amazing person, his family, friends and everyone is in mourning. The entertainment industry will never be the same again. Threesome will never be the same again, Jeff was a selfless hard working individual and he will be missed dearly. We can never be the same again, his presence will definitely be missed and no one can ever replace him, but we have worked hard to build the brand and the group, we cannot be two some but threesome, so in the near future we will be looking for a replacement”, said Makwane.

Jeff’s uncle Titus Mekgwe said, “We have lost platinum and what is more painful to me, is that Jeff used to be a Christian and used to sing in the choir. Today we don’t celebrate his death but his sleep. Lets us all be in light, whoever Jeff had a grudge with, please forgive him as he did to you.”

“Jeff was a fun and loving person and will be missed dearly. Our industry is very wild but fun at times but can be very educational at the same time. I met Jeff when I started out with Malaika and we clicked instantly. We would talk about the entertainment industry and the teaching industry since we were both teachers. I would confide in him, he was a real true friend”, said Florence Matshediso “Tshedi” Mhlolo of Malaika.

Mkwaiwa echoed the same sentiments “At this point in time we are still mourning the passing of Jeff, and we haven’t really decided what will be the way forward, but I guess at some point, we are going to be looking for a third member who will replace Jeff, since the group is three some after all.”

“He was a free spirit who loved everyone and he touched so many people in so many ways. The media have bashed the group, accusing Jeff of taking food at parties and so many things, he took all those things for others who were less priviledged, that just shows what kind of person he was”, said gay designer, Ephraim Molingoana.

“It is easier to follow in someone’s footsteps but it is not easy to break the barriers. 3sum made it easier for today’s generation to be who they are and live without fear. You can judge them but you can’t ignore them”, said Uyanda Mbuli, socialite and owner of Diamond Couture.

The gay trio was officially formed in 2002, consisting of group members, the late Jeff Moyo, Amstel Makwane and Koyo Bala under Pro Kelly Entertainment.
