Students from the University of Cape Town and the University of the Western Cape were invited by the Stellenbosch Lesbigay Society to support them while taking part in the event.
Editor Annaleez Kloppers said when the photographer proposed a photo of the two men kissing; the editorial team unanimously supported the idea.
“We were going to do a lay out look. We were going to be different this time,” said Kloppers.
One of the kissers, Bjohn Czepan of UCT, said he did not think Stellenbosch was ready for their bold stance.
“I know many people have a problem with seeing two guys kissing each other,” said Czepan.
Some students have expressed their horror on Facebook and said the paper was seeking cheap publicity, while others are in favour of the bold statement.

I think this issue of debating & a lot about the kiss between these two guys is kind of homophobia to gay students & the gay community at large.SA accepted gays & gave them as much rights as straight people, meaning weather some thing wrong or right has been done by any of the two,it shoud be delt with acordingly. But am surprise how the printing of the photo of two guys kissing is bringing about a big issue evry were.Gay students a as equal as straight,so let them enjoy the previleges given on the plater.
What is the fuss all about, ppl very much like to pretend that they don’t know the truth where as they clearly know and understand that it happens and it is there. Men do kiss each other ppl.
